Fun aquarium kid treats!!

If you are anything like me you have a love hate relationship with the bringing of snacks for school snack time. I love to create the snacks but it is hard for me to figure out what really cute, healthy-ish, lesson related snack to bring. I always like to sort of incorporate what lesson they are working on with the snack. Here are some ideas for you to use.

Kindergarten snacks aquarium theme. They were learning about fish and the ocean that week. We even took a field trip to a local aquarium market. This was fun to make.

First I made vanilla pudding. (The original idea was to use jello but jello and I do not get along.) I used blue and green food coloring to give it the aqua color. I spread the aqua colored pudding in my cookie sheet. A 9x13 cake pan would work for this or any serving dish with an edge. The "gravel or sand" is crushed vanilla cookies.

Then I ever so careful placed Swedish fish, shark fruit snacks, and gummy worms throughout the aquarium scene. Now I thought I was finished. My great friend, who happens to be a 3rd grade teacher, saw my snack and said, "It's really great. How is the teacher supposed to serve it though? Scrape it out of there with a spoon?" Hmmm....right. So I went back to work and filled the bottom of clear plastic cups with the "sand" (vanilla cookies) and spooned aqua pudding on top.

Then I filled the mini aquariums with the candy Swedish fish and shark fruit snacks. You really could just do that and the effect would be really cute. I just wanted a neat little aquarium scene to go with the cups. The teacher used the larger aquarium snack scene for seconds. It was a big hit.
